Yes I'm telling you they can't replace them, not without it being considered an improvement. Thought was rather clear. If a window gets hit by a baseball or through a quirk 'breaks', they can fix that. Fixing those windows that are bolted (now why do you think that they are bolted????) would be considered an improvement and that very easy could snowball.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

A good example that the big removing the doors issue a year or two ago that turned into new sprinkler system(? or something my memory is a bit fuzzy)

Something else that has always bothered me is the fact that there is still asbestos in out schools (tiles I believe) that are OK so long as they are not disturbed but would worry the hell out of me as a parent if my child was in class anywhere close to where renovation is going on and that dust is being kicked up .

Oh well I do not think the BOS will be as easily bullied as the SB was but I am not sure that they will pony up the cash that is needed for renovation or New schools either

Crud after a bit of reading I do not know why ANYONE in there right mind would want to referbish these asbestos death traps

And in this lawsuit happy world I would think about fileing one if my kids were to get exposed to that mess.

IMHO it is wrong to retard a kids learning potental in order to "save a school" but it is CRIMANAL to put there health in danger for that purpose.

Sports teaches people how to be winners.

[/ QUOTE ] Winners in what? A game? Sports are games. Games are supposed to be fun. Therefore, sports are just for having fun and should have nothing to do with school. And by keeping up your grades and behaving in school, it is a privilege-to have fun.

We all get that Appalachia has a great tradition in sports. PV has a great tradition as well. But this is SCHOOL, not Monday Night Football.

Some of you who are flipping out just because there would be no more Appalachia Bulldawgs to it need to think a bit about your priorities. Meaning, quit thinking about yourselves and think about your kids! This is not about you. This is about your kids. They might not want it either. But they need it. I need to do homework. But I rarely ever want to. But I want to make good grades so I need to do my homework. Just like this. The kids need their schools consolidated. But a lot of kids and parents don't want it. I'm sure kids and their parents want a better education so they need to consolidate.

Remember, this is about education.

Thank you!! It was my misfortune to attend a school that had asbestos in, not only the tiles, but the entire stock of insulation. The EPA stepped in and said if any of it was disturbed all of it had to be removed. Well, the ceiling tiles began to fall and thus, removal was began. Guess what? It was very expensive to remove it from the aging building (safety equipment, transport, disposal). Fortunately for those younger than myself, a new building was in the making. A new building is nowhere near in the works for any of our schools which are still full of asbestos. Guess what folks? First tile that gets disturbed with that vile substance means every single one of them must be removed and the federal goverment will only allow a certain amount of time for this. Why risk the health of these children?
Looking for my Darcy, but finding only Wickham. Right now, I'd settle for Bingley.

Mr Flanary has forgotten about the impression the trailer classrooms would have made on the new business I guess, it just doesn't fit his line of thinking. Anybody else recall that idea? Or how many complained about the tax increase from the improvements and consloidation that Basham proposed before he got fired? I understand his logic, but he is missing some fact. I could be wrong but from what I am reading IF it is desterbed then by law it must be removed......And honistly even if they could just cover it up do you really want to gamble with the childrens health like that?

Not my idea, that sealing was what we got when the stuff was first acted on. Just repeating the info passed along at the meetings.
